Sea Fever Documentaries - Catch Them on Iplayer!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00scc8l

Here's a rare chance to see a series of documentaries which are incredibly important for the coast of Great Britain and in particular, Cornwall. There are numerous accounts of events (check out the first in the series about sea rescues) and rarely seen moving footage from Cornwall during sea disasters, rescues and also more light-hearted events such as the incredible emergence of surfing about 80 years ago.

They have absolutely gripped me, so I strongly recommend seeing them if you haven't already!

Some interesting archive from Truro cine club recording a helicopter placing the cross on Truro Cathedral. Well worth a watch for the sound of the projector alone!

Pictures and Entries from Fowey Daphne Du Maurier Festival!

Over the next few days I will be updating my blog, flickr, facebook and twitter with images, entries, stories and contributions from the Fowey festival. I will be arriving at the festival on the 18th May - and will be staying a few days at Penhale Campsite in order to gain some exposure to what's going on in and around the town.

If you want more information on the festival - a link can be found here. There are hundreds of activities throughout the course of the festival - many of them free.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2006/may/02/restaurants.cornwall.hotels

A good article for those wanting to find something a little bit special when eating out in Cornwall. The links are useful, but don't necessary provide a huge amount of variety.

Before the Daphne Du Maurier Festival - Walking in her footsteps

http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/cornwall/hi/people_and_places/history/newsid_8610000/8610819.stm

This is an interesting article on Daphne Du Maurier and her almost inescapable connection to the landscape and people of Cornwall.

Remember the Daphne Du Maurier festival between 13 - 25th May this year.
