New York to Isles of Scilly Rowing Record Broken

A 114 year old record for crossing the atlantic has been broken by a Scottish based team - beating the previous record by 11 days and shattering the Cornish based attempt two years ago which ended in disaster 400 miles off Lands End when their boat capsized.

The team battled some intense weather; rolling through storms and other dangerous situations to beat the record. The boat however stayed firm, reportedly giving the rowers no trouble and enabling them to put their hours of training and experience to use.

The team have already beaten the record for rowing the South Atlantic.

New Look for Site

A (slightly!) new look has been released on J C Little Photographs in order to make the most of improved galleries. Only three on there at the moment but rest assured more will be added soon!

Haven't had that much luck photography wise with the weather as it has been recently in Cornwall. Misty, grey and rainy with dull lighting generally...not fun! Will keep you updated.

Meanwhile - check out Go Explore Photography, something I've only discovered fairly recently. There are some amazing pictures there and lots of inspiration!

New Link to Scillies Threatened.

The government today announced wide-reaching cuts to transport in the UK; throwing fears upon the much anticipated redevelopment of the link to the Isles of Scilly. Transport 'schemes' have been suspended, according to Sectretary of State Phil Hammond - and many within Cornwall have agreed that this was not an unforseen circumstance.

Here's a rare chance to see a series of documentaries which are incredibly important for the coast of Great Britain and in particular, Cornwall. There are numerous accounts of events (check out the first in the series about sea rescues) and rarely seen moving footage from Cornwall during sea disasters, rescues and also more light-hearted events such as the incredible emergence of surfing about 80 years ago.

They have absolutely gripped me, so I strongly recommend seeing them if you haven't already!

Pictures and Entries from Fowey Daphne Du Maurier Festival!

Over the next few days I will be updating my blog, flickr, facebook and twitter with images, entries, stories and contributions from the Fowey festival. I will be arriving at the festival on the 18th May - and will be staying a few days at Penhale Campsite in order to gain some exposure to what's going on in and around the town.
